Positive Mitzvah 13

  Day 26Day 28

Positive Mitzvah 13: Wearing Tefillin on one's arm
Deuteronomy 6:8 "And you shall bind them for a sign upon your arm"

Besides the tefillin on the head (see above, Positive Mitzvah 12), the Torah commands men to put tefillin on their arms.

The square leather box is placed upon the arm, facing the heart.

This shows that our feelings should be connected to HaShem, just as the tefillin are tied onto us.

The Baal Shem Tov taught that each of our lives is comprised of 42 journeys, corresponding to the 42 journeys of the Children of Israel in the wilderness.

Some of those journeys have pleasant names. Others don't sound so nice. But none are inherently bad. It is only that you may have to dig deeper and deeper to find the purpose and the good within them.
